Sending Postcards Internationally

The Postal Service is more than just a business. It is a critical public service that helps bind the Nation together through personal, educational, literary and business correspondence. It also provides delivery services and mail-in voting. Many people fear that changes to the Postal Service may negatively impact mail delivery and interfere with vote by mail, a crucial part of the democratic process.

If you're sending a postcard internationally, be sure to follow the rules and pricing of USPS for international mailings. Generally, as long as the card or envelope fits the postcard size (instead of letter) and is not oversized, it will be treated the same as a regular letter and priced at international rates.

Postcards require a standard postcard-sized stamp for mailing. The front of the card has space for your address and a personal message. The back of the card typically has a photo or graphic and space for the recipient's address and signature.

In order to send a postcard to a destination outside the United States, you must purchase a Global Forever stamp or a combination of standard Forever stamps that equals the same value. You can purchase Global Forever stamps at any post office or online.

Using USPS's international postage calculator is an easy way to determine the proper amount of postage for your postcard. The calculator will show you the postage rate for your destination and how much it will cost to mail your postcard. You can also use Click-N-Ship to print the required postage for your international package.
